In 1946 Sam Olstein founded the White Furniture and Appliance Company. He sold a variety of items from furniture and mattresses, all the way to gas ranges, refrigerators and washing machines. Like most retail establishments, he had some good years and some not so good years, but the tradition he was building continued. The current owner, Jeffrey Olstein, Sam's son, came in to work on Saturdays at age 11.
